The approach adopted by CHRIST (Deemed to be University) is to develop the six villages adopted by it through Unnat Bharat Abhiyan program by promoting the development of rural areas by using local, decentralized and eco-friendly technologies to meet the needs of food, clothing, shelter, sanitation, health care, energy, livelihood, transportation and education. By involving its students and faculty the attempt is to reduce the developmental disconnect between the rural and urban sectors, especially to address the inequities in health, education, incomes, basic amenities and employment opportunities. Interventions for sustainable and eco-friendly development of the villages will be executed and appropriate employment opportunities will be created locally. The University will further intensify its efforts to contribute to the development of the rural sector as is expected of it by Unnat Bharat Abhiyan program. Efficient, user friendly, cost effective and replicable rural technologies will be introduced to address the inequities mentioned above and thus contribute to rural area development.
